How Our Stone Tables Are Made

Our tables begin with an ultra light weight, waterproof, highly durable core. Natural stone and porcelain tiles are then hand cut and adhered to the core using a method similar to installing a tile floor.

This core gives our tables several advantages over pieces that are made from a single solid slab of stone. First of all our tables are much more light weight and are only about 8-10 pounds per square foot, as opposed to slabs which can be as much as 30 pounds per square foot.

Solid stone tables are also prone to moisture somehow finding a way into the stone, then freezing, expanding, and causing cracks. Out waterproof core repels moisture ensure that the integrity of the piece remains solid.

Once the pattern has been cut and properly installed, the stone is then treated with a special below surface sealing agent that creates an invisible layer of protection over the surface of the stone. This ensures that our tables can withstand the elements of wind, rain, heat, and cold.
